Birthday Celebration

We recently celebrated our grandson Triston's birthday (he's 4), and my birthday (I'm 14 x4-1). Triston's present was a bicycle and clothes. In order to open the bike, George told him to follow a string which he ran out the back door, up the right side of the backyard, straight across the back of the yard (about 80 yards) entwined through trees, then down the left side of the yard to the side of the house and around to the front yard. The string then went back in the front door. By the time he got there, we had the bike sitting on that end of the string. Leave it to George to think up a humorous and great presentation!

Here's some pictures of the cute birthday boy.

Post-Football Depression

It’s happening. It probably doesn’t happen to most women but to a lot of men. And it’s always this same time of year. Yes, I’m speaking of post-football depression. The last game of the season, the Pro Bowl, took place two days ago so the season is officially over. Ho-hum, woe is me! I love pro football Sundays and I am completely thrown off kilter when the season ends.

In addition to loving the games, I relish in cooking something yummy that day--something that I can simmer and stir all day long while absorbing the aroma and taste testing here and there. I get laundry done while watching football too. I haul each load into the living room for folding so I don't miss a thing.

On an absolutely perfect football Sunday, it will also be wintry like outside--cold with the wind kicking up, leaves swirling into a tizzy, snow falling and drifting higher and higher. The kind of weather that accompanies a delicious batch of chili, soup, or stew. Of course, that type of winter weather doesn't happen often here in north Texas but a girl can dream, can't she? Usually if we get snow, it's not often and not much and what are the odds that my dream weather will occur here on a football Sunday? Not good but I’m always on the lookout for it.

As it stands now, on this post-football-season Tuesday, I’m confused! Without football, I don’t know what to cook or how to do laundry. I am perplexed by questions like, what should I fix for dinner, when should I do the laundry, and where and how do I fold it? You would think I'd have that figured out by now since every February, I suffer through another round it but no! Perhaps I need a 12-step program?  By the time, I'd finish it, it'd be football season again so I think I'll just try to ignore it and wait as patiently as possible.

Hi all! A light bulb went off after my initial woes with the pictures yesterday, and I think I get it now. I have a few other things to tweak on this blog but that's for another day.
Because I have so many pictures, deciding where to start is no easy task so I think I'll just start with some from around the holidays. To start, here's Linda, David, George and me on our way to Geo and David's company Christmas party. For those of you who don't know, Linda is my sister & David is her hubby, and as you may have guessed, they work together.

Here's a group photo from December 16th, 2007--Top left to right is Crystal, Michael, Josh, Mom Keller, me & Preston. In front of Mom is my sister Linda and her daughter Brandy is in front of her. To the left of Brandy is a friend of Josh's named Sheri, and hiding in there next to her is Triston and then George is on the end.

When Mom Keller visited us from Indiana in December, we went to the Ice Exhibit at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine. It was pretty spectacular too! Here's a photo of Geo and Mom as we were exiting.

 More later.
 Ta-ta!

My First Blog!

So, here's my 3rd attempt at typing my first blog. I've had issues trying to get them posted but I'll get it figured out.

After using the name Smile for Miles on my newsletters since 1988 (back in the olden days), I had to forego that title today because it was not available. I guess I should have caught on to this blogging stuff sooner. That's okay though, I'm very happy with Smiles For MANY Miles. Going MANY miles certainly outdoes plain ole mere "miles!"

In keeping with tradition this blog will be my newsletter---pretty much! My newsletters were getting farther and farther between anyway, and this blog will allow me to keep things more up-to-date on a regular basis. Rather than spending weeks typing up a multi-page newsletter like in the past, I can do this little-by-litte, event-by-event, thought-by-thought. And most of you who know me, know that the thought-by-thought part can be very scary! Tee-hee-hee!

For today, I'll just say that our sweet little grandson Triston turned 4 years old on February 4th. We haven't celebrated it yet but we will do so soon. We usually celebrate his birthday and mine together since our birthdays are 10 days apart. I'll post info after that event which is not scheduled yet. Work, work, work, it just gets in the way of the fun stuff!

In the meantime, here are pictures of our granddudes to start off my first blog posting--Triston, the birthday boy, and another of both Preston and Triston!
