A Visit With Forrest & Katy

In May, George and I drove down to visit our friends Forrest & Katy who live in Kingsland, Texas. We took their trailer to Canyon Lake and went sailing on their Flying Scot sailboat. We had the necessary wind so it was a perfect day for sailing. I wondered if we'd go over a couple of times but they're skilled at sailing and cruised us around with ease. That same night, Forrest and Katy's friends invited us to go night sailing on their sailboat which was quite a bit bigger than the Flying Scot.

In the smaller boat, we sat closer together, and in order to have proper balance, we all had to sit on the same side of the boat most of the time. The larger vessel didn't require as much participation as I was able to park myself in one spot for most of the serene glide around the lake. It was really cool to have two completely different sailing experiences in the same day. We loved it!

Forrest and Katy are racing in a husband/wife sailboat race in a couple of weeks up in Oklahoma City. Go Forrest & Katy!

This is Janet, our night sailing hostess.
She told us captivating stories about her
life experiences in Europe and the Middle East
as we sailed through the dark.

The next day, we checked out Gruene, Texas (pronounced Green) which is a cool little town. We did a little shopping and would have loved to explore more but we ran out of time.

We stepped into Gruene Hall which is believed
to be one of the oldest dance halls in Texas

I walked right up to this tree to take this photo
just before we left the RV grounds.
Deer were hanging out all around!
It was a memorable and very fun trip!
Thanks Forrest and Katy.
Let's get together again real soon.
