RVing With Our Granddudes

On Saturday, we took our granddudes, Preston and Triston, on an overnight RV trip to Jellystone Park in Burleson, Texas.

George took out the TV that came with the RV, and he's creating a contraption to mount a new one.  It's not done but we used it "as is" for this trip.

Triston

Our RV spot was just six RVs away from the Pirates Cove Fun Zone where there is a water park and an arcade.  We hung out at the water park for a few hours in the afternoon, and then played in the arcade a little later. Triston won 500 tickets! All totaled, they had over 650 tickets which they cashed in for Slinkys, poppers and other fun stuff.  They also rode peddle cars around the RV park in the evening.

I didn't take any pictures of those events though.  I didn't want to take my camera to the water park and I forgot it when we went to the arcade.  When they navigated the peddle cars, I stayed in the RV with the girls because I had enough of the heat!  George walked with them through the park.  I watched them peddle by the RV and still forgot to snap a shot!  Oh well!

Jellystone Park has a variety of events for kids and we really needed more than one day.  Nevertheless, the boys had a great time!

The girls enjoyed the view outside.

The kids moved to the top end of the bed
to raise the blinds and the bed flew up!
Funny!

Sunday
Time to go home.

This was the scene not
long after we hit the road.

Even Sally couldn't stay awake
but she tried her best!

Thankfully, George was awake!

Home again.

I took this photo of the boys
just below the Mitzi Mae picture right
before they went home yesterday.
We sure miss Mitzi Mae!
Of course, we will miss the boys too!
We look forward to their next visit
and more RV trips with them.

Next week, we're RVing for several days to Lake of the Pines in the East Texas Piney Woods along with two other RV couples. We are looking forward to it!  I love, love, love this RV stuff!

4th of July

To celebrate the 4th, Josh and Sheri came over, Sheri's parents Beverly and Jim, her sister Annette, her niece Jacqueline, and her Grandma too.

We had the pavilion ready to go.

It was in the upper 90's, and we wondered if it would be too hot.  As you can see, the RV is right there in the background so we cranked up the A/C in it just in case anyone wanted a break from the heat.
We sat up here around 5:30, and snacked on appetizers--chips, dips, cantaloupe, watermelon, strawberries and grapes. Yum!

The RV wasn't needed either. It was still in the upper 90's at that time, and there was a slight breeze. It wasn't bad at all. (I forgot to take pics.)

We ate dinner in the house, and everyone bought a dish.
Or two.
Or three.
In addition to the appetizers, there was potato salad, macaroni salad, deviled eggs, corn casserole, chocolate cake, brownies, cookies and cupcakes. For meat, we went simple and picked up Dickey's Barbecue--chopped beef, sliced beef, sliced turkey and sausage. There was enough food to feed an army, and it was delish! The army never showed up but we all did just fine!

After dinner, Josh and George
displayed their unicycle riding skills.

Woo-hoo! Go Josh!

And George!

They are both quite good at it!

Fireworks are not prohibited in the rural area where we live, so as usual, our neighborhood went berserk! George, Jim, Josh & Annette made two trips to the fireworks stand around the corner to stock up early in the evening.

We positioned ourselves in the driveway.

Would you believe she's 91?
She hung with us the entire time too.

Jacqueline fresh off a hand stand!
She's a cute, well-behaved little gal.

She takes gymnastics and
demonstrated her skills for us.
I was going to demonstrate mine but
then I remembered I don't have any!

The crew.

Great minds plotting fireworks!

They're starting up as you can see
in the distance which is
actually just a street or two over.

Josh was pretty much the official
fireworks lighter and run away-er.

But, of course, we lit our own sparklers.

Street level fire flurries!

Last pic.
It was a fun time!
Everybody enjoyed themselves!

On a separate note, we have a good chance of rain in the forecast for several days starting on Saturday.  I'm all over it!  I hope it happens!
