2016~Indiana, Part 2

DAY TWO

Since it was raining, we thought it'd be 

a good day to explore Marengo Cave.

 We realized after taking two tours 

that one would have been plenty.

Nevertheless, we enjoyed  

the interesting adventure!

Next, we wandered through an antique store

before settling in for dinner at the

Overlook Restaurant 

which rests on a scenic bluff above the

981 mile 

Ohio River 

in

  Leavenworth, Indiana.

The restaurant is upstairs 

and offers breathtaking vistas!

A nice little pub is below the restaurant
but somebody didn't take any pics. 

And a large deck surrounds it all.

Kentucky is on the other side of the river.

DAY THREE

 We started our final day 

of camping with lunch at 

33 Brick Street

in 

French Lick. 

The weather was prefect for sitting 

on the porch that day so we did.

George was surprised when 

it arrived but he ate it all!

After lunch, we tackled miniature golf.

While, having a refreshment inside the 

mini golf place after the game, 

we decided to go bowling.

Sue remembered that the West Baden Hotel 

has a bowling alley inside so off we went.

It was a cozy six-lane alley!

Our Tipsaw Lake/French Lick visit 

was awesome (with the exception 

of the ticks at the campground)!

DAY FOUR

Saturday

We returned to Sue & Randy's house,

and visited with more family 

in Evansville that evening.

It was great to see everyone!

After an entertaining week, 

we drove home on Sunday!

Thank you Randy for putting in 

an electrical hookup for the RV. 

It was convenient staying 

right outside your front door.

We loved it!

We're currently looking forward to 

our next trip. At the moment, that's 

Port Aransas, Texas 

unless something comes up before then.

2016~Indiana, Part 1

On Memorial Day weekend, we RV'd up to Indiana to take Sue and Randy camping and to visit with family. We weren't scheduled to camp until Tuesday so Geo spent time with his brother Jim, and I visited with Jeanne and Sue.

On Tuesday, we headed out to camp at

Tipsaw Lake in the Hoosier National Forest. 

It was not an uneventful drive!

After taking a wrong turn, we ended 

up a good way down this dirt road.

Hind sight is 20/20, right?

Looking back, there were clues that 

we were not on the right road.

Clue #1

The road was only narrow 

enough for the motorhome 

Clue #2

We've never been to a state park 

that took us down any dirt road.

Clue #3

The road curved, became narrower, 

and a few trees were too close to the 

roadside for us to curve past them

so we could not go any farther!

We had to unhook the jeep, 

and back down the road.

Randy stood behind the RV and 

guided Geo back to where we 

were able to turn around.

At last,

Tipsaw Lake

It's a small lake, only 131 acres 

but it has a cute little beach.

The first night, we discovered 
that ticks were everywhere!

Not long after that, we were told 
that it's called TICKsaw Lake.
How appropriate!

One reason we picked this area to camp 

is because it's only 30 minutes to the 

town of French Lick. 

Also, we would have preferred 

Patoka Lake 

which is closer and bigger 

but we decided to take this 

trip too late and it was booked.

We started our first full day at 

Indoor Karting. 

Sue, Randy and George had a 

good time driving the track.

 I took blurry pics and vids with the iPad.

Next, we self-toured the 

historic West Baden Springs Hotel

which is part of the French Lick Resort.

It was captivating!

We were inspired to look up.

and look down...

and all around.

Photobomber!

These stained glass doors were very pretty.

The cool, spacious and lovely balcony!

We sat and rocked for a short time.

Delightful greenery and 
flowers are everywhere!

We really enjoyed breezing 

through the West Baden.

It's a neat place!

We finished off the day by playing

  Foot Golf at the Valley Links 

course which is also part of the 

French Lick Resort!

Kick offs!

Randy was the only one 

wearing sturdy shoes.

Sue wore decent tennis shoes 
but not the best for foot golf.

I was wearing Sketcher's canvas Go Walks.

Somewhat flimsy.

Worst of all though, 

Geo was sporting sandals!

In the beginning of the game, 

(and more than once), 

Sue and I could be heard saying, 
"Ouch, my toe!" 

My ankle was stiff,

and my legs sore for days after, 

but I loved it and would have 

played again in a couple days 

if it had worked out.

Note George's sandal is completely 

broken on the left side in the back!

Foot golf was lots of laughs! 

A total blast!
